The Very Bestest Top 20’ish Christmas Movies of All Time—So Say Me
I was asked to share my top holiday movies (Christmas movies to be specific), and agree or disagree with my so-called definitive list, it’s all good, but regardless, we’re all officially here—fully in the holiday spirit!
Photography 101: Flatlays
Look at you! You’ve made it through the fundamentals of photography by purchasing and setting up your camera - I am so proud! Now we’re going to dive into some set-ups: Flatlays!
MBSS Travels: Wow’i Mau’i
I LOVE Hawai’i. I’ve been to O’ahu and Kaua’i before with a short stop-over in Mau’i, but not long enough to explore – until now! (Especially since COVID restrictions have loosened.)
Photography 101: Editing Softwares
Now that you’ve read more about photography equipment and its manual settings from my previous articles, I’ll be introducing one of the most exciting parts of photography: editing your images via professional softwares!
MBSS Travels: Dominican Republic
So my sister and I decided it was time...time to go to an adult-only all-inclusive resort for the first time and, wait for it, the first of many sistaversaries. Yes, this was our first vacation where it was just the two of us, and in DR; that’s 3 firsts!
MBSS Travels: Florida
It’s always sunny in Florida… April - where you spring forward to catch some more daylight and take an epic beach trip to kick off the vacation season. One of my favorite spots is 30A which is a string of beaches along Florida’s emerald gulf coast between Destin and Panama City such as: Grayton, Watercolor, Seaside, Alys, Seacrest, and Rosemary.
Traveling to Hawaii- Go now or hold off?
Aloha
Just got back from a trip to Hawai - the islands of Kaui, Maui, and an extended layover in Oahu.
In a nutshell, Hawai was beautiful but it wasn’t the relaxing time that I was hoping for. Read the article to understand why!
Irene B’s Book Recommendations: Past, Present & Future
Oh, this was super tough to narrow down, so I went with this mix of some old and some new books – no particular order, just great reads. Enjoy!
The Booby Trap
Spring has truly sprung, and we’re seeing the light at the end of the tunnel from CoCo-19. I dare not speak its actual name. Hero-workers aside, many of us have been working from home, or home in some capacity, but with the distribution of the vaccines currently underway, and trust me, I am fully aware of the current disparity in access, we’re all still bravely pushing forward, and on to restarting the best parts of our lives.
Cross Country Road Trip in COVID
Yes, we drove cross country in COVID….
Our Family LOVES to travel. Any opportunity we get, love seeing new places, meeting new people, and trying new foods (well, within reason :))
Then...the COVID happened...
Photography 101: ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture
Now that you know about what camera body and lenses to start out with, we’re going to dive into the settings of a camera – more specifically: ISO, Shutter Speed, and Aperture settings. While it’s quite convenient to utilize the automatic setting where each attribute is arranged by the camera itself, photographers have leaned towards manual settings in order to achieve their vision based on their surrounding environment.
Shanghai, China... History with Modern Twists
Naturally, there are several places to hit up when you visit China, but so far I’ve only made it to Shanghai on a couple of occasions – and I’m not complaining! It is a long-haul flight and you can go direct from major cities in the US, including Atlanta, so just be prepared for 14+ hours of up in the air.
Saving Your Sanity When Covid Takes Over
On a random Wednesday afternoon we got the dreaded text that everyone has been anticipating but fearing at the same time. “Mama, P tested positive for Covid.” Cue the horror movie music and a close up of my anxiety-filled surprised face.
Zaiba’s Book Recommendations
As a child, I transported myself into the world of books! Here are my favorites, ranging from fiction to factual.
Sydney, Australia... a Journey Worth the Travel Time
I’ve been to Australia a couple of times thus far, and it does not disappoint. The first thing to remember is Australia’s seasons are the opposite of ours; so hotter months are actually December to March. And traveling there from the US is actually a 2 day event - but totally worth it. And here’s why...
Sajal’s Top 10 Books
I love to read. I read to escape into another world, another era, another journey. Most of what I read is historical fiction and medieval-type fantasy as I am continuously fascinated by how we used to live and mystical alternate realities.
