Recipe Details

Servings: 10

Recipe Category: Lunch, Dinner

Difficulty Level: Easy

Cooking Times 45 minutes

This recipe was shared with me by Umber K. She has been making these garlic mashed potatoes for years and are a must at every Thanksgiving and basically, anytime I am craving mashed potatoes.

Meal idea:

Most recently we had a mashed potato bar for dinner that included different kinds of mashed potatoes (plain, cheese, and garlic) where we could choose our toppings that included seasoned ground beef, sour cream, jalapenos, salsa, chopped onions, crispy fried onions, chives, and seasoned beans (we had a Mexican theme)!

These are just the toppings we want with, but mashed potatoes are versatile and you can top with whatever you are craving!!

Have fun experimenting!!

What you’ll need

½ cup whipping cream

5lbs potatoes  (peeled and cut into quarters)

½ cup butter

1 cup milk

Salt (at least 1 tsp, but season accordingly to your comfort level)

White pepper (at least 1 tsp, but season accordingly to your comfort level)

24 garlic cloves peeled

directionS

Place potatoes and garlic cloves in a medium saucepan, add enough water to cover.

Add milk

Bring liquid to a boil

Reduce potato and simmer till potatoes tender ( around 25 mins)

Drain potatoes and garlic, reserve ¼ cup of cooking liquid

Return potatoes and ¼ of the garlic to the saucepan and add whipping cream, butter,  mash until smooth

If needed, add reserved cooking liquid for desired consistency.
